PaddkeYak Fusion Hybrid This is the new, expedition-version of the award-winning PY Swift Hybrid and the PY Fusion Classic which adventurer Riaan Manser used in his successful circumnavigation of Madagascar in 2008-2009, despite essentially being a novice paddler without a long track reord of participation in the sport. PaddleYak Swift Hybrid The PaddleYak Swift Hybrid is PaddleYak's flagship and winner of a SABS Disa Design Excellence Award for 2007 as well as a prestigious ITown Design Award. This is a professionally developed craft and a trendsetter because it features both sit-on-top as well as traditional sit-in features. The Swift has a sit-on seat with effective self-draining scuppers, but the seat also has a protective coaming, which takes an optional and sturdy neoprene sprayskirt. PaddleYak Kingfisher The PY Kingfisher is a well-tested, sit-on kayak which has been completely adapted for fishing and diving. The PY Kingfisher offers adjustable footrests, a flip-flop rudder, self-draining footwells and super-stability, making cumbersome outriggers obsolete. It features a proven, fast and seaworthy hull, a wave-piercing bow and an integrated wave deflector. For the fisherman and diver it offers a stern-well which can carry a large cool-box, aqualung or live bait, two sturdy rod-holders, a medium-sized screw-in inspection hatch with bottle attachment, built-in back-support, a small cutting platform and indents for a kayak trolley. Its most distinctive feature is a central hatch between your legs which gives direct access to the inside of the hull from the cockpit. This hatch offers ample storage for gear, rods and fish. An additional large-sized hatch with a neoprene stretch cover and hard protective lid on the bow allows for easy removal of the catch and for rinsing and cleaning. Safety and utility jacket When you're out at sea, safety is everything, and that includes wearing PaddleYak's "Buddie" [buoyancy and utility device]; a purpose-designed sea kayaking safety jacket. It features a useful pouch in front afor emergency gear and essential crotch straps for added security. The jacket is adjustable in six places and fits most adult sizes. Extra flotation material can be added if required. The jacket has been developed over fifteen years of use by recreational as well as expedition paddlers and is the only local jacket with a crotch-strap which effectively prevents it from riding over your head in the water, an essential feature. The utility jacket is not registered with SAMSA as a Life Jacket or a PFD as SABS testing is too expensive for small specialised companies like ours to obtain. Use of the jacket is at own risk, but its track-record has proven its mettle. Compare it and you will have to agree it's tough and functional. Wing Paddle The wing-type paddles such as the Lettmans and Brachas were developed for Olympic class sprinting on flat water courses. What it lacks in bracing, etc, it makes up for with 2% more speed. It is suitable for K1 Olympic Kayaks, Surfskis and Adventure Kayaks. It is not suitable for novices or for kayakfishing, cruising, expeditions, waveski-surfing or white-water kayaking. Wing paddles come standard with carbon-fibre blades and fibreglass shafts.
